In addition to GP consultations we offer a number of specialist clinics healthcare services:
Our practice nurse Linda and Dr Kapur offer diabetic reviews for all our diabetic patients. It is important that regular reviews are attended to assess whether you are controlling your diabetes. Evidence shows that good control of diabetes and blood pressure prevents long term disease complications in diabetes.
Our aim as a practice is to minimise the number of asthmatic attacks in patients, and the only means of us controlling a patient’s asthma is through regular attendance at the clinic. If you have asthma please do not hesitate to contact the surgery to make an appointment with either our practice nurse or one of the Doctors.
The practice offers annual checks to our patients with this condition.
Your lifestyle, diet, alcohol consumption and smoking habits can all be discussed during one of these checks.
Please contact the surgery to make a cervical smear appointment with our practice nurse.
We are part of the national mammography programme offering mammography every three years to 50-60 year olds, but all women should be aware of breast changes, examining them after a period (or monthly if going through the menopause) and report any lumps or changes to the doctor for an opinion.
We offer contraceptive care during normal surgery hours – just make an appointment in the normal way. If you require the morning after pill due to unprotected sex during the previous 72 hours let the receptionist know the appointment is urgent. Our practice nurse can also offer chlamydia testing.
Our Healthcare Assistant offers a smoking cessation clinic and has recently had many successes with the help of nicotine and nicotine replacement substances.
The practice holds a Baby Clinic every Tuesday between 10:00 and 11:00. An appointment will be made for your child when they are due for their vaccinations. It is very important to bring your children for vaccinations when you are invited.
If you are planning on travelling abroad and are not sure if you require any travel immunisations, then please ask at reception for a travel questionnaire. You can also download one from the above tab. All travel vaccinations must be given at least 4 weeks prior to travelling so please ensure you leave plenty of time.
All patients requiring the influenza vaccination will be informed when the practice will be holding Flu Clinics. Home vaccinations can be arranged for housebound patients.
If you require any vaccinations relating to foreign travel you need to make an appointment with the practice nurse to discuss your travel arrangements. This will include which countries and areas within countries that you are visiting to determine what vaccinations are required.
There is further information about countries and vaccinations required on the links below
It is important to make this initial appointment as early as possible - at least 6 weeks before you travel - as a second appointment will be required with the practice nurse to actually receive the vaccinations. These vaccines have to be ordered as they are not a stock vaccine. Your second appointment needs to be at least 2 weeks before you travel to allow the vaccines to work.
Some travel vaccines are ordered on a private prescription and these incur a charge over and above the normal prescription charge. This is because not all travel vaccinations are included in the services provided by the NHS.
Please note that the Nomad Travel clinic in Manchester city centre can also provide a Private service to you. The number is 01341 555 061 or visit their website at Nomad Travel Clinic
